Step 1: Create an new site by using the default workspace
Steps:
- Log on to Windows SharePoint Services server -> On the Windows Start menu -> click Microsoft Office Server -> All Programs menu -> SharePoint 3.0 Central Administration
OR
If you know the URL, access the Central Administration page remotely, access the site admin page by entering the URL on IE
- In the SharePoint 3.0 Central Administration application, click the Site Actions menu on the upper right of the page, and then click on Create
- On Create page, click Sites and Workspaces in the Web Pages section
- On the New SharePoint Site page, fill the site title and description; Fill the URL of the SharePoint site, URL name could be in the following format:
http://ServerName:1248/Title (In this example, I am using “Customworkspace01” as Title and xyz:9999 is server URL.)
Select the Microsoft Office Project Workspace template on Template section. This template will be available under Collaboration tab.
NOTE: It's a very important; you should create the site by choosing the Microsoft office project workspace template. If you choose other template it will not show up in provisioning settings.
On Permissions, click Use unique permissions, and then click No in both the Navigation and Navigation Inheritance sections.
Click Create
- SharePoint creates the site and then displays the Groups for this Site page. We are creating this site as template, so you can use the existing Administrator group for the Visitors, Members, and Owners sections and click OK
