Deadlines

If you want a task or milestone to be completed by certain date, but you don’t want to effect the schedule calculations by setting a constraint.

In this case, please use the deadline. A deadline appears as just indicator on project Gantt, but does not affect the schedules of your project. You can set the deadlines for summary tasks as well as individual tasks.

Steps to set the Deadline:
  • Select the task you want to become a deadline
  • On Project menu -> Task information
  • Click on Advanced tab -> Select the date for Deadline

Deadline marker appears in the Gantt chart as green arrow. You can also by including the column “Deadline”, you can see the Deadline date on Gantt Chart.

Tip: To include the column on the Gantt chart, right click on column header of the Gantt.

For example, if you want to include the Deadline column next to Task Name, right click on “Task Name” and select “Insert Column” and look for “Deadline”. Click “OK” to insert the column.
